Lisa and Ed, the kind folks behind Pine Cone Mercantile & North Woods Bread Co care deeply about the local economy and North Country business. In particular, they have a soft spot for local farmers. And they’ll be the exclusive local supplier of one of our area’s premiere meat suppliers. Lear more about it in our Food and Drink Section.

Don’t forget to support our own Adirondack Buffalo Company, which just this week celebrated the arrival of some newborns. Their shop is now open for the season and sells some of the juiciest bison around.

A Bright Future for Schroon

There is a lot to be excited about this coming season. From the Town Hall expansion, to new owners revamping the Rowe’s Cottages, the future looks promising. New owners are also in the process of reopening the old Dun Roamin’ Cabins and work will begin in August on a project to make Schroon Lake cleaner, with a new water catchment system being installed as part of a large grant.

In addition, with the potential of a bigger and better Stewart’s Shop, there’s a lot be celebrate as our town’s entrepreneurs and big business alike, add fuel to the economic engine of this town’s economy.

“Business is very good, we had one our best winter season ever,” Steve Holmes told Schroon Laker recently.

Two weeks ago, S & S broke ground on a new outdoor patio, increasing the footprint of their alfresco dining space.

Congrats to all of our businesses. Wish you all a great season.

Town Hall Expansion Update In Pictures

Since the melting of the ice and snow, the contractors working on Schroon's Town Hall expansion have been working as fast as mother nature allows them. Town Supervisor Mike Marnell says the next step will be the framing of the top floor. Marnell says the project is still on target for a Labor Day Weekend ribbon cutting ceremony. Meanwhile, the Schroon Lake Public Library has been awarded a $7,500 grant from the Adirondack Foundation to aid the library’s efforts in development an Early Education Childhood Center.

Funds will also be used to furnish the children’s area in the new section of the library. The library’s expansion committee is currently applying for grants through local foundations to furnish other sections of the new library. Community donations are also welcome.
