Registration is open for one of the Adirondack’s premiere winter events: The Adirondack Sportsman’s Dinner.

After a gap year, Mountainside Bible Chapel once again is hosting this annual event, now in its 23rd year. The Dinner features great food, AMAZING PIES, exhibits, outdoor related seminars and prizes. The keynote speakers this year are hunting royalty: the Salerno Brothers, Pat and Tony.

 From their official bio:

When people talk about the Adirondack Mountains and Deer Hunting one name becomes obvious, The Salerno Brothers. Pat and Tony have been hunting the rugged Adirondack Mountains since knee-high to their dad Pat Salerno Sr. who taught them the art of still hunting, an art they call their own due to the tremendous success they have achieved by taking some of the biggest bucks of the Adirondacks. North American Whitetail Magazine had this to say about the brothers, “years of experience have placed the brothers among the premier trackers in the Adirondacks and it’s because no two hunters will make the effort and sacrifice to hunt the way they do.” Look for the Brothers on PBS Television, Fox 44’s outdoor hunting show “The Outfitter” and an upcoming episode on The Pursuit Channels -LIVE THE WILD LIFE- with co-host Gus Congemi.

When and Where: Saturday, March 23, 2019. Mountainside School Auditorium, Route 9, Schroon Lake (opposite the Paradox Brewery and Tasting Room).

In what will feature some of the best conditions in recent years, more than 100 folks from all over are expected to be on the ice next weekend for the annual Schroon Fishing Derby. Plagued by a couple or recent years where conditions have been a little “iffy”, the winter of 2018-2019 has been a boon for all outdoor winter sports.

Tracey Hanchett, from the Fish and Game Club, told Schroon Laker she is expecting a big crowd this year. The lake has hosted dozens of sportsmen and women with their tip ups and shanties.

The conditions have meant an up tick in business for the he Schroon Lake Bait and Tackle store, in its new location closer to the lake on Main Street near the corer of Dock Street.
