Rhonda Is Home!

Rockology drummer Rhonda Barnes  -- the Schroon Lake mom hundreds of folks are rooting for in her battle against cancer --  is back home in the Adirondacks getting some rest before her next round of treatments.

Schroon Laker spoke with Rhonda’s friend Jaine Wardle, who is one of the organizers of a huge Rocking for Rhonda Fundraiser this Sunday, at the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club.

“She is only home for a couple of weeks, trying to get her liver better and getting treatment in Glens Falls," Jaine told us.

"Her spirits are better because she's at home with her daughter Megan and that is what is important for her to be with her daughter".

It was only a few short months ago that Rhonda was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma.Since then she has been treated at Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Jaine said what’s keeping Rhonda’s spirits high is “being around family, friends and music"

How is she occupying her days in Schroon?  “Making sure her daughter is getting to school and doing well with her school work. That gets her through her day. And her physical therapy, making sure she's getting herself better."

Jaine got to know Rhonda through her husband, Rockology guitarist John Wardle. Besides being the awesome drummer for the band Rockology, Rhonda works at the Sagamore Inn at Bolton Landing and before that at the Timberwolf Pub. The Sagamore and dozens of local area businesses are providing goodies for what will be an amazing auction.

Among the items:  A new golf cart, an over-night stay at the Sagamore, a dinner at the Sagamore, a weekend getaway with dinner at Mirror Lake in Lake Placid.

“We have a lot of great things up for auction and we hope everybody comes out and bids on everything. With their hands up and their hearts out. Hands in their pockets actually.

Besides the big auction items there will be a baskets and even “a penny auction” for kids.  “Kids can get involved, so bring your children. It is a family affair”.

“We hope we can raise enough money to help her through this and win this fight,” said Jane.

There will be live bands all day, great food, a 50/50 raffle and much more. For more information, or to make a donation, call Rockology's John Wardle at 518-480-3566 or 518-788-3918.
