Live Blogging: Sticks and Stones Monday Night in Schroon
A larger than normal crowd was out in force at Sticks tonight, on what’s most likely the last full service they’ll run for a while.
Founders Steve Holmes and Gary Tromblee were figuring out the restaurant’s next steps, which may include a take out /pick up service.
”We will see how it goes over the next few days, Steve told us.
The bar was crowded and many tables were occupied. The mood was upbeat.
“We don’t normally come out on a Monday night, but we wanted to be here,” said Pete Gath, who was here with his wife Tracey.
”We want to support local business.”
Syracuse Seniors Gabrielle Lamarco and Genna Batson, here on Spring Break, had just learned the rest of their semester had been moved off campus and their much anticipated graduation was in jeopardy.
”I’m sad about the current situation but it feels nice to be in a place full of nature and beauty that brings me calm and peace,” Gabrielle told us.
”I’m really sad to potentially not graduate after a challenging and amazing four years but am happy to be in a place with no reported incidents of the virus,” Genna said.
Steve, like many folks we spoke to in Schroon today, was optimistic about Covid-19 soon being a distant memory.
”This could be a lot worse. Thankfully we are not in July.”
Amen!
That’s a month that when we get there, this will hopefully be behind us.
