The Adirondacks Real Life Time Machine
A must see and do -- on any vacation in the 'Dacks -- involves a trip to The Adirondack Museum. With its interactive displays and demonstrations, the museum focuses on the cultural history of the Adirondacks, set against the glorious Blue Mountain Lake. Kids of all ages can experience how folks lived, survived and progressed in the Adirondacks, going back to the 1800s.
We recommend getting there early and packing snacks and a picnic lunch. All your need to know details are right here!
Younger kids will enjoy the antique clothes-washing station -- with real clothes to wash and dry -- a lean-to with camp supplies to play in, a train to climb aboard, animal pelts to play “guess what” with, and a one-room schoolhouse full of crafts and games.Older kids can watch a boat builder making a traditional Adirondack boat, learn the history of logging, and tour an early Adirondack cottage.
