Spring and Summer Fun South of Schroon

There’s a ton of news from our Friends at the Tri Lakes Alliance,  which covers our readership area south of Schroon.  A craft brew fest, car hops,  an ATV Ride and a high school art show are among the upcoming events in North Warren County.General Board Meeting Minutes:  May 15, 2015 from the Tri Lakes Business Alliance.

Carol Theater:  Not Too Far From Home Comedy benefitting the North Warren School's Performing Arts Club was a success and the TLBA will be giving the school +/- $1700 for the upcoming trip the group is taking. Comedians loved the crowd and the theatre and would like to come back so we might be booking them for another show in the future.

The Rotary  gave the TLBA a check for $300 for all of the events our group organizes. Congratulations to George Stannard as the new Rotary President and Many, Many thanks as the TLBA is run totally on donations, fundraisers and the time and effort of our local business owners and citizens, and this donation is greatly appreciated!

ATV Ride: May 30th starting at the Tin TeePee at 10 AM followed by cookout at 5. Donations for door prizes for both events that day are needed so let us know if you can help! Proceeds will benefit new Electric Sign fund (for in front of the NW Chamber building). Again, help is needed to make this event go smoothly so volunteer a few hours if you can!

Craft Brew Fest:  May 30th at the Hub in Brant Lake. 5 PM - 8 PM - $25 admission to benefit new Electric Sign. Saratoga Brewery coming plus others!

Electric Sign:  New design was presented to the Chester Town Board and a resolution was made to let us move forward. Project will now be presented to the Adirondack Park Agency. Thank you again to Brett Winchip for engineering the design, Garnet Signs for construction & prices and Fred Holman for heading this committee.

The Hub: Bike Racks:  In an effort to make our area more amendable to cyclists, Drew is offering any business the opportunity to purchase a bike rack at wholesale, depending on the rack would be $50 - $70. Contact Drew at the Hub (thehubadk@gmail.com) for more information.

Adirondack Journal had a great article on Chestertown on Fred Monroe's retirement, Mary Jane Dower's lifelong service to the town and the Chestertown Farmer's Market!

Car Hop:  First Car Hop of the year had 13 cars and we're looking forward to many more. No one was on hand to do 50/50 raffle but hopefully we'll have a helper next time. Trophy donors are still needed ($40 and your business is advertised as that show's sponsor) so contact Don if you'd like to help out!

North Country Arts:  Youth Visions - A High School Juried Art Exhibit, will be held May 1st - May 24th at the North Country Arts Studio in Chestertown, open Saturday and Sunday 11AM - 5PM. If you haven't checked out this great local gallery, do so for this event!!!

Rack Cards:   Rack Cards are IN with TLBA and other town events on one side and Carol Theatre performances on the other have been ordered. These will fit in the bill folders used at restaurants, and rack card holders were also purchased for businesses to put by their cash registers.  We hope all business will help distribute these throughout the year to let our visitors know what events are planned for 2015.

Woof Stock:  June 20-21. The field behind Main St. ICP is no longer available and committee is asking NW School for permission to hold the festival at the school fields behind the Chester Town Hall. The School's PTO will be having a 'Tie-Dye Your Own Tee Shirt" booth for children and the

Scouts might be having a "Wash Your Dog" station so mark your calendar and make sure you check out this fun filled event! We still have room for vendors so anyone interested contact Cindy at cmead3@nycap.rr.com. A reminder that this is a Family Event - it's not a "WOOD" Stock festival - it's an Adirondack "WOOF" Stock....There will be children's activities, great food and the musicians that play at the Farmer's Market)..... The Dock Diving, Disc Throwing and Agility/Lure course will be fun for everyone to watch, or let their dog participate. North Shore Animal League & Adirondack Save-A-Stray will have +/-50 needy dogs up for adoption...

Farmers Market:  Opening day will be June 17 at 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Golf Outing: The annual Golf Outing to benefit the TBLA will be held Friday October 2nd at Cronins. 1PM start with dinner afterward. Anyone willing to help with this please call Doug O'Brien @ #494-4565 or email dobrien327@nycap.rr.com

North Warren Chamber has decided to go with a Sportsman's Weekend this fall. First meeting will be at The Crossroads on Wednesday, May 3rd at 6PM. Anyone willing to help with this event please call the Chamber!

Adirondack Northway Partnership: Brandon Himoff attended this meeting as a representative of our area, a group of people from Schroon Lake, North Warren and North Creek, promoting this area as a tourist destination and promoting & advertising each other's events.

From Cindy Mead: "The next meeting is Friday, May 29, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Panther Mountain Inn. You do NOT have to be a business owner to attend!  We only have two rules:  Meetings last 1 hr.  Only 1 person speaks at a time. And don't forget to "LIKE" the Tri-Lakes Business Alliance on Facebook".
