Keeping Schroon Pristine: Clap Your Hands For CSLAP!

Of all of the attractions that bring visitors here, we're almost 100 per cent positive it’s our pristine lake that’s the star attraction. Schroon is one of more than 7500 lakes, ponds, and reservoirs in the Empire State. So how is it that the quality of our lake water is so good? A huge part of the credit goes to the Citizens Statewide Lake Assessment Program, aka (CSLAP).

CSLAP is a partnership between New York State's DEC and lake residents who help to monitor and collect important lake data and water samples, vital to understand lake conditions and to develop future lake management plans. The Schroon Lake Association and the East Shore Schroon Lake Association both take part in the program on behalf of Schroon.

Schroon Lake Association Vice President Chuck Harste sent us a great background story he wrote, which explains more about this remarkable program which you can read after the jump.
