Mark Piper: The Open Mic Man

Tonight, like every Thursday night, the crowd in the loft bar at Witherbee's Carriage House will be rocking out to a bunch of talented musicians from all over rhe North Country -- including Mark Piper, who heads up the the Open Mic Show. Here is Mark's homage to what he calls the "best damn bar he''s ever seen." From Mark:

"My original song about the best bar in the Adirondacks. The Witherbee's Carraige House in Schroon Lake, NY Family owned and operated by the Christian family, Patty, Bill Amanda, Bill Jr."

The eagle ears of Pat Thorne led her to capturing this stunning image.

From Pat:

"A knock, knock, knocking in the woods nearby drew my attention.  There were two Pileated Woodpeckers feasting on larva in a decaying old spruce tree.  These 17 inch long woodpeckers, with a long red crest are usually very adept at keeping out of sight.  If they had not been tapping away I would have passed right by them."

Thank you Pat for sharing your amazing artwork with our readers.
