More Snow, More Winter, More Fun

We know of several folks with big smiles on their faces as the snow continues to blanket our area: Winter sports lovers and snow removal business owners.

And there is much, much more in the forecast, according to folks at the National Weather Service. We could be if for accumulations up to 12 inches.

The fun continues today at the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival  -- which this year features a 1960s groovy theme. The ice palace – under construction since January 22 – is stunning, we are hearing from folks who have seen it.

Named the second best winter carnival in the world by National Geographic Traveler magazine in 2012, the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival is the longest-running event of its kind in the eastern U.S. Since 1897, it has grown into a 10-day festival that includes sports, performances, two parades and three sets of spectacular fireworks. Now through February 15. All the details are here.

In the Thick Of Winter

There’s only six weeks of winter left – so enjoy (or curse) the next batch of snow headed to our area. A Winter Storm Warning is in affect from 1am Monday morning to 1am Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service is predicting accumulations of up to 8 inches. But along with the snow are some serious and dangerous wind chills – those temps could dive to -15 degrees. So stay warm and don’t let your pets be outside too long.
