Cold, Cold, Cold -- With Some Snow Thrown In!!!

Friday Morning .....It’s really, really cold – dangerously so. There is a wind chill warning in effect until 12 pm today. And more of the whote stuff on the way this weekend.  From the National Weather Service:

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BURLINGTON CONTINUES THE WIND CHILL WARNING...UNTIL NOON EST TODAY. * LOCATIONS...THE SAINT LAWRENCE VALLEY AND NORTHERN ADIRONDACK MOUNTAINS IN NORTHERN NEW YORK.

* HAZARD TYPES...BITTERLY COLD WIND CHILLS.

* WIND CHILL READINGS...AS LOW AS 38 BELOW DUE TO TEMPERATURES 4 BELOW TO 18 BELOW ZERO...AND WINDS WEST 5 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 MPH.

* TIMING...UNTIL NOON TODAY...BUT THE COLDEST WIND CHILL VALUEs WILL BE BETWEEN 6 AM AND 10 AM TODAY.

* IMPACTS...WIND CHILLS OF THIS MAGNITUDE MAY CAUSE FROSTBITE ON EXPOSED SKIN IN LESS THAN 15 MINUTES.

Chili Volunteer Army Needed

An Army marches on its stomach!  And it takes an Army to stage a Chili Cook Off!  So what happens when those two concepts collide: Free chili for the volunteer Army at the upcoming 4th Annual Schroon Lake Chili Cook-Off! And there’s a meeting Friday, (Feb 13)  to organize the troops!

“Anyone interested in volunteering at the Chili Cook Off is welcome to join us for a volunteer meeting on Friday, February 13 at 12:30 pm at the Chamber office. We'll be going over volunteer assignments and logistics for the day of the event. If you can't make the meeting but still want to volunteer, drop us a note or call the Chamber at 532-7675. BEST thing about being a volunteer, besides supporting a great cause? You get a free tasting wristband to try all the chilis!”
