The continued, tireless efforts of our Lake Guardians -- The Schroon Lake Association and the East Shore Schroon Lake Association  -- continue to keep our lake and river in pristine shape. Each association realizes that a large part of keeping invasive species out is education. And the folks at ESSLA have come up with a unique way of getting the next generation of lake keepers involved at an early age: a kids activity book. Find out more in our Kids and Family section.

Big Bands In The North Country

During Schroon’s Golden Years, big bands were a summer staple at  area resorts, like Scaroon Manor, where they played under the twinkly lights at the amphitheater.

Saturday night you can relive those glory days with the  Georgie Wonders Big Band at the Carol Theatre in Chestertown 7:30 pm.

The band is the real deal. We hear the group was a huge hit last year! Get going: It’s $20 per person.
