Last Chance to Experience Seagle’s 100th Season

It was a summer season to remember: up on Charley Hill Road: 100 years of song as the Seagle Music Colony celebrated a century of performances here in Schroon.
But wait – there’s more...just a handful of special performances in the North Country before the curtain closes on this season, with the production of“The Great American Songbook, Vol. 2”.
(We saw The Great American Songbook Vol. 1 -- back in 2013, and it was awesome).
The new show will be presented on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 8:00 pm at the Oscar Seagle Memorial Theater. From Artistic Director Tony Kostecki:
“The revue will feature classic songs of the golden age of American musical theater, including those by composers George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers and more.
“We produced a revue in 2013 entitled ‘The Great American Songbook’, and it was very well-received. This ‘Vol. 2’ revue features many of the same composers, but with a whole different set of memorable tunes.” The show features four singers and a pianist who are taking part in a post regular season outreach program, which also will take the children’s opera “The Ugly Duckling” to schools across the North Country.
“This is the fourth year we have had this type of post-season outreach program and it has become an important component of our success in the last part of our first century.”
The 2015 post-season artists are Tascha Anderson, mezzo-soprano, Corey Battey, pianist, Ryan Hill, baritone, Margaret Newcomb, soprano and Clark Weyrauch, tenor. The five are in residence at Seagle Music Colony through early October.
Tickets for “The Great American Songbook, Vol. 2” can be purchased by phone at 518-532-7875, and will be available at the door based on availability. The revue will also be performed at additional venues across the region including The Wood Theater in Glens Falls on Sept. 11 at 7:30 pm, The Keene Valley Community Church in Keene Valley on Sept. 13 at 4:00 pm, and at the Tannery Pond Community Center in North Creek on Sept. 19 at 7:30 pm.
