Run, Do Not Walk to Sticks & Stones for Rich Ortiz

As an Aussie, who finds Schroon Lake firmly planted in his DNA, I can brag about the number of world class performers I have rocked out to in my life -- in various continents.

So when Steve Holmes told me about the upcoming gigs of Rich Ortiz -- this week (on Sunday at 6pm!) and in January --  I was gobsmacked.

Ladies and gents, run, do not walk, to this special treat Sticks and Stones will showcase for you this Thanksgiving weekend. This talented lad has performed all over the country, especially in the Adirondacks. Rich does it all: guitar, harmonica, and peddle bass -- with his feet. BAZINGA!!!

Have a listen for yourself, right here. Seriously, to have this talent here. We are truly blessed to have such a talented artist right here.

What’s In Schroon Lake?

What’s In Schroon Lake? The following will surprise you!

Our buddies at the East Shore Schroon Lake Association have pointed us in the direction of a just released, new report on what the Schroon Lake Fisheries Surveys and Management Team have been up to.

A HUGE HAT TIP to Jim Pinheiro, from the DEC, who studied the diverse fish species which call Schroon and its tributaries home.

They include coldwater, coolwater and warmwater species.  Check out this amazing 13 page report, about stocking policies, angling regulations and future management, including increasing the catch size limit, by clicking, here.

Happy Thanksgiving From The East Shore Schroon Lake Association

We are passing on a message from our good friends at the East Shore Schroon Lake Association. These guys are way out in front about getting the message out about invisibles,  and sharing with the community what's happening with the health of our lake. Congrats on another great year of stewardship. You guys rock.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving really is a special time to be thankful for great families, caring friends, amazing communities and all the gifts of life we're all lucky to have. The ESSLA Board of Directors are especially thankful for all the wonderful friends, members and  community leaders who truly are a gift to know.

We are grateful to ESSLA’s founders who saw the need for protection of our Lake environment.  We thank our partner organizations and the Towns of Chester, Schroon and Horicon for your unwavering support.

So it is with thanks to every one of you, because YOU are the reason we stand strong.  We wish you the happiest of Thanksgivings and hope you enjoy this great holiday season! ~ ESSLA Board of Directors.

Congrats to ESSLA for another amazing year for helping to protect our lake!

A Schroon Thanksgiving: The Best 20 Thanksgiving Quotes About Being Grateful

This is a shout out to many of our readers and friends  -- who will be at home in greater Schroon and beyond this year --  many warmed by their fireplaces or pot belly stoves (and the love of their families) , as their kitchens produce some amazing Thanksgiving table treats.

It's our favorite holiday by far -- one which doesn't involve the pressure of gift giving -- but provides the opportunity of a simply phrase: giving thanks for all we have: our family, God's Blessings, what we have worked hard for and what we hope the future brings.

This year especially we will pray --  with our hearts filled --  a wish for world peace, a better understanding of each other and the new world we live in.
