We are very saddened to learn of the passing of Kevin O’Neil, who lost a courageous battle to cancer earlier this month. He was 62.

Kevin was known to many Schroon Lakers as the guy with smiling face who ran a recycling bottle and can business near the Marina.

Kevin opened the business in the summer of 2014, which we wrote about on Schroon Laker. You can read the story by clicking here.

At Kevin’s request there will be no calling hours scheduled.

A celebration of his life will be held this Sunday (December 20) , from 1 pmto 3 pm Sunday, Dec. 20, at the Barking Spider, Main Street, North Creek.

Kevin’s family sends special thanks to High Peaks Hospice for their exceptional contributions during a very difficult time.

Folks may want to consider a contribution in Kevin’s name to Saranac Animal Clinic, 3900 State Route 3, Saranac, New York, 12981.

You can read his official obit in the Post-Star, here.

Do your favorite snow dance. Pray to the Winter Sports God of your choice. Wear your PJ's inside out. As of tonight, it's officially winter, but really it feels like early fall. And just wait until Christmas Day. Once this craziness is over with, do you think we will get a mild winter, or will we get hammered? Tell us in comments.
