Truck Driver’s Lucky Escape

Area motorists suffered hours of inconvenience, but thankfully a truck driver was not hurt, after a roll over crash shut down a large chunk of the Northway Monday.

Southbound lanes between exits 23 and 24 were shut for about four hours, according to witnesses. The Post-Star reports the truck driver suffered no threatening life injuries after his vehicle overturned after a front tire blew out.

From The Post-Star:

The driver of the truck, Richard C. Sears, 74, of Glens Falls, was taken to Glens Falls Hospital after the 10:32 a.m. crash in the southbound lanes between exits 23 and 24, according to State Police. Sears operates Richard Sears Tree Experts, and was driving one of the company's trucks when the crash occurred.

Police said he was heading south when the front passenger side tire on the truck ruptured, resulting in the truck veering off the road and rolling over down an embankment. Sears suffered facial cuts and possible neck injury, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
