The results are in. From Tammy Whitty-Brown, the Executive Director of the Schroon lake Area Chamber of Commerce:

"The Schroon Lake Parade Committee would like to thank everyone who had a part making the 2016 4th of July Parade such a success this year. Everyone from financial contributers, volunteers, and Chamber and Town employees worked together to make this another spectacular 4th of July. In addition, the parade would not be the parade with out all the participants.

Each year there are four volunteer judges that individually judge four categories: Antique Car, Floats, Fire Department and Horses.  They use a newly developed matrix sheet (2015) that allows them to score each of these categories by looking at Showmanship, Technical Skill, Originality, Presentation, and Entertainment.

The winners in the four categories for our 2016 Parade Participants are as follows:

ANTIQUE CAR

1st Place goes to Mr. Gary Egan of Schroon and his 1932 Red Ford Coup

2nd Place goes to Pat Salerno of Porth Henry and his 1957 Chevy Bellaire

3rd Place goes to Rick Bump of Pottersville and his 1969 Camaro-502 Engine

FLOATS

1st Place goes to the Word of LIfe Dunk Team

2nd Place goes to Schroon Lake Emergency Rescue Squad

3rd Place goes to The Lost Descendents of South Schroon

Schroon’s 62nd 4th: A Sun Soaked Success

In what was one picture perfect day – Schroon hosted another off the charts 4th, with thousands getting out and enjoying the day.

With weather straight outta central casting, Independence Day was celebrated on at the Town Beach, camps, and restaurants, Main Street and on the water.

Congrats to Chamber Executive director Tammy Whitty Brown,  and her dedicated team of volunteers, for pulling off another great day.

So many highlights: great music at the beach, amazing picnics folks were enjoying on the grass,  the warm applause for Kathy Riggins and her family walking the parade route celebrating Kathy and Dan’s (posthumously awarded) Schroon Lakers of the Year and of course the kids scrambling for candy.
