Getting Your Weekend Party Started Tonight At Sticks and Stones

Tonight,  (Friday, July 15th) Steve Candlen, from Saratoga Springs, will be rocking out at Sticks & Stones. The fun starts at 7pm!

(Down at Witherbee's,  George & Tony perform LIVE Music from 7 pm to 10 pm). Steve, who has opened for American icon Don McLean,  performs catchy, original songs. Folks will be in for a real treat! You can check out Steve’s latest videos, by clicking right here.

More from Steve:

“Songs can present themselves anywhere from conversation to contemplation in every aspect of experience one might encounter on any given day. Recognizing such moments as inspiration and the ammunition to write something poignant and cohesive is half the battle. I write simple yet vulnerable melodies about the experiences of life, love, and perspective in the 21st century. I enjoy writing from a title that hands me a topic allowing me to color in the blanks. Other than that I’m just an average minded goofball.”

“I’ve played drums for most of my life in and around my hometown of Albany, NY – touring nationally with Felix Caveliere’s Rascals (The Young Rascals) 88′ through 96′, presently with Columbia recording artist Franklin Micare and Irish folk artist Kevin Mckrell. In 2003 I decided to start performing solo (guitar/vocal). I was the winner of the 2005 “Music For Miracles” Songwriting Contest with the title ” All Over The World”, was voted Metroland Magazine’s “Best Male Vocalist 2006”, and “Best Drummer 2007”. I hope you enjoy my music.”

A Big, Bold, Arty, Crafty Summer Schroon Weekend

Artisans and crafters from all over the northeast are heading to Schroon, for the BIG, 48th Annual Schroon Lake Arts and Crafts Fair.

The event  -- known for its high quality vendors -- attracts thousands on the lookout for unique arts and crafts. (We know of several folks who do a bunchof early Christmas shopping).

The fair, sponsored by the Schroon Lake Association, those terrific folks dedicated to preserving our piece of lake and river paradise, will be at its usual digs at the Town Park, starting at 10.00 am.

And there is gonna be something for everybody, with all arts represented: jewelry, sculpture, woodwork, photography, painting, you name it, it will be at the fair.

Artists from as far away as Montreal, New York City and beyond will join locals from here and all over the North Country.

And for repeat visitors, if there’s a favorite artist you want to catch up with, chances are they will be in the same spot as in previous years.

The Right Thing To Do

This is a community that helps each other. Often. And without question. Our friend David Peterson, from the Mountainside Bible Chapel, shared this today:

"Please consider giving blood in memory of baby Verhonica on July 23 10 - 3 at the Pottersville Fire Department. Veronica's mom, Brina, works at the Dollar Store and is in a relationship with Frankie Cavoli, wood sculpture across the street from the church (Frank's son). Verhonica's Butterflies "
