Foodie Fun Feast and Fest in The Adirondacks!

What a prime time to be in greater Schroon. With the High Peaks for early fall hiking in our backyard and the annual Essex County Adirondack Harvest Festival in nearby Westport -- as well as a ton of activities right here -- we are truly blessed!

The Harvest Fest is your chance to celebrate North Country food and farms, by meeting local farmers, tasting local food as well as listening to some awesome live music.

This family orientated event is FREE and runs September 16 and 15th at the Essex County Fairgrounds

The festival also celebrates the expansion of hiking opportunities in New York. The "Harvest Moon Hike" on Friday evening and the 13-mile "Ferry to Fairgrounds Hike" from Essex to Westport on Saturday are two unique experiences to take part in.

More information about hiking can be found here, and information regarding the ADK Harvest Festival can be found, here. Check out their Facebook page, here.

The 1-Eye Classic: 9 Years and Counting!

We all know what a destination Schroon Lake is for bikers -- for those who favor Harley Davidsons --  but this Sunday dozens of riders wearing spandex, not leather, will descend on our fine town.

It’s the 9th annual One Eye Classic, a series of three different rides for all levels, which honors one of this town’s favorite son’s, Lance Gregson.

The event memorializes the late Lance, who passed away in 2007, and is organized by his bride, Annie. You can read all about Lance’s incredible story, right here.

This Sunday's rides kick from he Town Park above the Beach at 8.30 am.  At the end of the day everyone gathers for a potluck picnic and concert by Lance’s talented musician brothers.

"Two of the things Lance most loved were bike riding and pot lucks," Anne said. And that's what the Lance Gregson 1 Eye Classic is all about,” Anne said.

It’s not too late to join in the fun – just show up on Sunday morning. It’s a ton o’ fun, so get on yer bikes. Or click here for more information!
