The Passing of Christa Ocker

Dozens of friends of Schroon Laker Christa Ocker turned out on Friday to pay their respects to a woman who touched so many in her extraordinary life.

Christa, whose zest for living extended from celebrating her family, to her love of Schroon Lake, animals and the arts, died on November 4.

She became known to a wide audience through several books she wrote, including a co-production with artist Annie Gregson and their wonderful children’s book, “Merry Christmas, My Friend.”

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated last Friday, (November, 11), at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Schroon Lake.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to High Peaks Hospice, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, or the American Cancer Society,

A celebration of Christa's life will take place at a future date. You can read Christa’s Official obit, by clicking here.
