Washington D.C Meets Schroon

Part-tijme Schroonlaker Evan Sheres shares with us a reminder:  his band  Rock Creek Kings will be travelling from Washington, D.C. this Saturday Night to play at Witherbee's Carriage House. The gig starts at 6:30pm. From Evan:

"We are especially interested in connecting with local musicians and are open to having a few local pros sit in - bonus points to unconventional instrument players. As a longtime summer resident of the Terra Alta community, I am very excited to introduce my DC crew to this special town!"

This is awesome. Congrats to Evan and his band.

Own Your Own Island on Schroon Lake

Ever dreamed of owning your own island, but were turned off at the thought of flying to the Caribbean or Bahamas?

Then we have the solution to your fantasy   -- and you don’t even have to leave Schroon Lake.

A once in a lifetime opportunity has come along and Schroon’s own Brill Island is up for grabs. The property, located in North Warren County, is an amazing 5-acre plus property, featuring stately five bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Friedman Realty, the listing agent describes the home as “Colonial Revival”.

"There is definitely a buyer out there for this home," Joel Friedman told Schroon Laker recently.  "It is very unique."

It features a great room with cathedral ceiling, stone fireplace, dining room, kitchen, porch and more: a dock and amazing sandy beach.

There’s hardwood floors throughout with a partial basement. There is also a one-bedroom guest cottage with living room, cathedral ceiling, a brick fireplace, kitchen, bath and deck.

So how do you get here? The property features a garage on the West Shore Schroon Lake, where you can launch your boat. In the winter, jump onto your sled!

Schroon's Starring Role in Cycle Adirondacks

Schroon's majestic waterfront will be the jewel in the crown of the 2017 Cycle Adirondacks Tour this coming weekend.

The glorious grounds of the Woods Lodge will take center stage with a pop up wine and beer garden for two nights, with a two-hour rock concert by locals the Willie Playmore Band.

The action takes place on August 19 and 20 when hundreds of cyclists  -- from 35 states  -- roll into Schroon and take up residence in a tent city on the grounds of the Schroon Lake Central School.

Our own Paradox Brewery will be a featured beverage at the garden. And there'll be a show by the amazing Stephen Gratto, unicyclist, juggler and school superintendent.

The two day, two-night event will pump thousands of dollars into the local economy, according to organizers. To get all of the details, Doug Haney, Co-Director, Cycle Adirondacks, has written an extensive guide, which lays out the whole kit and caboodle!
