Mark Piper: The Pied Piper of Schroon

markpiperschroonlakelibrary.jpg

When not playing maestro and performing at Witherbee's Open Mic night,  rocking it out with his own duo Marking Time, doing voice over work, and running a first class B&B,  Schroon's Mark Piper still has time to give back to the community.

Mark will soon be teaching beginner Ukulele group classes,  starting on Saturday, September 30 at Schroon's beautiful  -- and soon to be expanded  -- library. Standby for a time for these one hour sessions.

It's a 10 week class "for anyone that wants to have fun and learn a few songs," says Mark.

"Don't think you can't, I promise I can get you playing a song on your first day.  They lend Ukes at our library for the duration of the classes, get yours today. No fee, just like last year. 10 students max so sign up soon. Contact our Schroon Lake library to sign up".

The Big Guns Have Been Bought In to Fight Evasives.

Take a look at this new sign on Route 74: the new Boat Washing Decontamination station near Paradox Lake, the latest project to protect our watershed, is finally a reality.

The station is the result of countless hours of hard work by the dedicated members of  the Schroon Lake Association, The Paradox Lake Association and the East Shore Schroon Lake Association. All three joined together to purchase the boat decontamination station aka (BDS) for use by watercraft using Schroon and Paradox Lakes.

The associations raised more $25,000 to help the Town of Schroon to purchase the BDS, which was installed last Thursday (August 31st). More from Schroon Lake Association President Mark Granger, after the jump:
