Schroon’s New Stewart’s Shop: Next Steps

Stewart’s hopes to break ground on their new million dollar plus store expansion before year's end, a company official told Schroon Laker today.

The next steps are finalizing the purchase of the property at the corner of Taylor and Dock Streets  -- where half of the new store will be located --  begin demolition of the residence and filing for a building permit, according to Stewart’s real estate rep Steve Kinley.

And the good news for Stewart’s fans is there will be minimal interruption of service.

“After we demolish the home we will start building the fist half of the new store. Once that is built we will demolish the old store and continue the new building on that site,” Steve said.

“Our preference is to keep our stores open during the renovation. We want our customers who get their morning coffee to keep coming.”

The first phase of construction should take about three or four months. However, the actual timing between the groundbreaking and completion of construction will be determined by weather. The gas pumps will be closed during the installation of additional units.
