A record 21 different businesses in greater Schroon participated in Small Business Saturday, the biggest event ever.

“The Town was jumping,” Susan Palisano, the Executive Director of the Schroon lake Area Chamber of Commerce, told us.

“It was aggressive marketing. We went out and got businesses involved that hadn’t been approached previously.”

Sue attributes the success of this year’s event to the way the Chamber attracted new businesses to join.

“We left it up to each individual business to come up with their own deal: Buy one get one, 10 per cent off, whatever they felt comfortable with”.

The Community Church’s Arts and Crafts event – which featured a free gift wrap service – generated a lot of buzz.

There was a steady stream of of pedestrian traffic at Pine Cone Mercantile, 9 Mile Coffee and the Towne Store, Sue said.
