The greater Schroon Lake area is delivering some VERY HOT weather this weekend for the runners in the 2019 Adirondack Marathon on Sunday and Saturday’s 5 and 10k events in Chestertown.
Sunday’s high is expected to top out at in the 80s. Race organizers have all of the information runners will need to STAY SAFE by clicking here.
The weekend’s festivities in Schroon kick off Saturday the Adirondack Marathon Distance Festival 5 & 10K Races in Chestertown. The course starts at the Town Hall on Rt. 9 in Chestertown at 9:30 am. Both races are run on paved streets through the heart of the village.
Start time for Sunday’s Marathon is 9.00 am sharp. The course will be open until 3:00 pm. The Half Marathon will begin at 10:00 am at the 13.1-mile marker in the village of Adirondack and will end at the Full Marathon Finish Line.
One again there will be Marathon Pace Bears, helping newbies and experienced runners. Also returning are the Taiko Japenese Drummers, who will be playing in front of Glens Falls National Bank, Main Street, Schroon Lake from 11:30am -2pm. Are you running this weekend? Tell us in comments.

On Sunday Sept. 22nd, the Adirondack Marathon will be held around Schroon Lake from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Access to some local roads will be restricted and controlled by NY State Police and Essex and Warren County Sheriff’s. You are requested to restrict use of affected roads during the indicated times to attend Houses of Worship and for Emergencies only.

1. Leland Avenue (Schroon Lake) 6:00 am – 3:00 pm
2. Dock Street (Schroon Lake) 8:40 am – 9:10 am and from 10:00 am – 2:45 pm
3. Route 9 – Hoffman Road to Schroon Village 8:45 am to 9:05 am and Schroon Village to Alder Meadow Road 8:40 am to 9:20 am
4. Alder Meadow Road, Tyrrell Road, Severance Road and Adirondack Road 8:55 to 9:45 am
5. Adirondack Road, Red Wing Road to Adirondack 8:55 am – 11:45 am
6. East Shore Drive (from Adirondack) to Shaw Hill Road – 9:10 am – 1:00 pm
