Schroon’s Big Art and Crafts Fair

This Saturday’s43rd Annual Arts and Crafts Fair --  sponsored by the Schroon Lake Association -- is shaping up to be one of the best ever.

More than 90 vendors have signed up for the event, which starts at 10 am and goes to 4pm this Saturday (July 21), in the Town Park above the beach.

“We have a lot of returning vendors who come every year and a lot of new vendors,” organizer Georgia Knickerbocker-Burkhardt told Schroon Laker today.

Sadly, a few vendors will be missing this year because of the devastating impact of Hurricane Irene last October.

“The storm wiped a few of our artists out. One of our vendors lost his home,” Georgia said. “He had a popular booth which took up two spaces with wares from Taiwan.”

This is a terrific event to do some early Christmas shopping at, or to stock up on birthday gifts. Vendors sell every art and craft imaginable.

This is the biggest fundraiser for the Schroon Lake Association.  The SLA also holds its Silent Auction at this event. And be sure to be on the lookout for “Ima Duck”, the SLA’s mascot, who will be selling ducks for the annual Duck race in September.
