The Hills Are Alive With The Sound Of Bike Gears
Come Sunday, dozens of bicyclists will be roaming our fair byways, during the 1-Eye Classic Cycling Event and Picnic.
For months, area riders have been waiting for this one fun day -- for serious cyclists who want to conquer near half century rides, or those who just wanna get on 'yer bikes, and toddle ‘round town.
And the best part about the day is the picnicking, potluck and music that comes after the ride, which honors the memory of Lance Gregson, whose passion for getting folks involved in riding was legendary.
Lance’s mission in life was cut short with his tragic passing in 2007 at the age of 44. The idea for the ride came from his widow Annie and his cycling buds, determined to carry on Lance’s mantra of ‘More bikes, less cars!’ You can read all about Lance and the ride’s history here.
For all of the details about Sunday’s event, check out the ride’s website here.
Even if you aren’t into riding, bring a potluck dish and come for the music, picnic and barbecue. If you can’t bring a dish there are plenty of goodies for sale).
There are also raffles donated by Leepoff Cycles and our favorite bike store, Rick’s Bike Shop in Glens Falls.
The day kicks off at 8.30am ish and the food, music and fun starts around midday.
