Your Weekend in Schroon And Beyond Guide: It's Fab

Giant Mountain Studio in Schroon has amazing, one of a kind, works of art.

If you are heading to the Adirondacks for Leaf Peeping, there is plenty to do in greater Schroon this weekend.(Editor's Saturday note: weather permitting!!!)

Hiking, biking, strolling, fishing, shopping and dining. There's also music and of course --  those incredible colors of ochre, russet, copper, mustard, merlot, pumpkin, apricot and varied hues of yellow leaves of muted brilliance amongst the remaining green.

Rent a boat, canoe or kayak to see that kaleidoscope of colors first hand from the Schroon Lake Marina, or just pull up an Adirondack chair on our beach. So what are you waiting for?

The music is happening at the live recording party of a special Open Mic Night at Witherbee’s Carriage House. Read our story here.

Then there’s The Timberwolf’s Crazy Karaoke on Saturday night!

This is the last weekend that you will be able to see the world class Railroads on Parade in Pottersville. See it now and remember it for ever.

In Schroon check out the Giant Mountain Studio Show.

Two of our advertisers are having greats Sales: The Towne Store on Main Street and Curtis Lumber, with a 30 per cent off sale on Men’s and Women’s Carhart clothing.

Need last minute accommodations? Check out: the Schroon Lake Place, The Lakeview Inn and Drakes Motel.

In Greater Schroon, over in Chestertown, there’s the Traditional Community Garage Sale. Some folks are having garage sales at their homes or businesses, while some are coming into town on the lawn of the Town of Chester Municipal Center and the Bank Parking Lot. We hear that traffic from Warrensburg is being diverted to Exit 25 so there should be a ton of "pickers” invading the area.

And of course – not to bury the headline, this weekend in Warrensburg features “The World’s Largest Garage Sale”.

How big is it? They even have their own set of suggested rules:

Garage Sale officially starts Saturday - but many start early Friday across the region and many "official" garage sale booths in Warrensburg open Friday at 5pm. So get there early - Take a day off, come up on THURSDAY night and enjoy the beginning of fall foliage and quaint little towns.  Eat Pasta and REV up for some serious shopping from 9am to dusk.

Have plenty of cash on hand

Dress in Layers - bring a backpack to put small wares in -- wear a waist-belt for easy hands-free shopping

Wear comfortable walking shoes, you WILL walk a lot.
