Lest We Forget. The true meaning of this weekend is on display from sea to shining sea. Here is what's happening locally.
The Schroon Memorial Day Service takes place in the Town Park on Dock Street at the Veterans Memorial at 10am. At 11 am a ceremony takes place at the Town Hall in North Hudson.
At the Jack Wyrtzen Center in Pottersville at 11 am, there will be a Patriotic, God and Country Concert. The Word Of Life Collegians with special guests will perform.
The special guest speaker is Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Brian Birdwell, who with his wife Mel launched the “Face The Fire Ministries, a non profit organization supporting wounded servicemen and women and their families.
Brian was deployed to Operation Desert Storm in 1990, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for Exceptional Meritorious Achievement. In 2011 he barely escaped with his life after hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon near his office. Admission is free. A cookout follows after the rally and concert. Tickets are $7.
