New Gas Options For Locals and Northway Travellers
Schroon Lakers, residents from North Hudson and Northway travellers have a new option for fuel, with the re-opening of a gas station just off Exit 29. The new Sunoco Station, opposite the abandoned Frontier Town’s main entrance, opened on December 24. The station was purchased at the April 30, 2014 Essex County Tax auction in by Muhammad “Moe" Ahmad.
The once abandoned gas station – part of the Frontier Town property – sold for $130,000 at the auction, part of what turned out to be a controversial sale of the rest of the Frontier Town parcel.
“So far business has been good, as the word gets out about us being here,” Moe told Schroon Laker this week. The station is co-owned Zohabe Shahid, who also own the Sunoco Gas station on Route 9, right off route 74.
The new station sells coffee and a small selection of goods. “Once we get more established, we will have much more in stock,” Moe said.
