Paradox Brewery Wins Huge at International Beer Fest

Schroon Lake’s own Paradox Brewery picked up three awards at the 19th Annual Great International Beer & Cider Competition.

The event, held this past weekend in  Providence, Rhode Island, attracted a staggering six hundred eighty (680) beers and ciders from breweries and cideries (yes, that’s a word!) across the U.S. and from around the globe.

Proud Paradox founders Joan and Paul Mrocka were over the moon with the win.

“A big thanks to our brewers, Devon Hamilton and J.D DeWaard,” Paul said. "They did an awesome job."

We know firsthand just how dedicated Devon and JD are, working passionately and tirelessly to make some of the best craft beers around.

Paradox picked up hardware in the following categories:

Oktoberfest

Paradox Fest Lager -- Silver Medal

Continental Pilsner

Paradox Pilsner    -- Bronze Medal

Fruit/Spiced Lager

Paradox Pumpkin Lager -- Bronze Medal

One hundred-twenty (120) professional brewers, beer industry professionals (retail and distribution) and beer journalists judged the blind tasting.  First, second and third place awards were presented in 59 categories of ales, lagers and ciders. The judges knew only the style and subcategory of each beer and cider.

More than 3,500 beer and cider lovers attended the competition, held at the Rhode Island Convention Center, where they could sample over 250 beers and ciders.
