First Look: Paradox Brewery’s New Digs in North Hudson
With more than $5 million in financing and loans in place, the next step for the founders and investors of Paradox Brewery, will be breaking ground at their new location in North Hudson.
“And we hope that’s going to happen soon. We’d like to get a shovel in the ground before the winter,” founder Paul Mrocka told Schroon Laker.
The site for the proposed brewery is on Route 9 on the grounds of the old Frontier Town western Amusement Park, near an abandoned motel.
Representatives from North Hudson and the Governor’s office say once the deal is signed to secure the land, the brewery will become the anchor destination in a master plan, which will include bike, horse and snowmobile trails, an equestrian center and a campground.
These first look sketches are artist renderings of what the new facility will look like. It includes a large brew house, spacious brewpub with indoor and outdoor seating, a growler filling station and a retail area. The new facility is huge: the outdoor deck space alone in more than 2,000 square feet.
There will be an area for special events, which could accommodate conferences and weddings. A centerpiece of the interior may be a large fire place.
But the crowning jewels of the new brewery are the sweeping views looking north towards the High Peaks. The landscaped grounds will feature parking for dozens of cars.
“To say we are excited about the future is an understatement,” co-founder Joan Mrocka said.
The project is expected to create dozens of construction jobs and more than 20 full-time jobs, when the facility is up and running at peak capacity.
