Spectrum Gets Sorted: Some Schroon Lakers to Get Free Premium Cable
Just like Game of Thrones heroes Sansa and Bran Stark – the New York Attorney General has slayed Spectrum TV in a battle over slow internet speeds.
The result is that some consumers impacted will have access to the free premium channels HBO or Showtime, or cold hard cash.
The Times Union reports today the settlement comes about after New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood opened an investigation into Time Warner Cable and whether the company's internet speeds were as fast as the company claimed reports the Times Union.
The case continued when Spectrum’s owner Charter acquired Time Warner Cable's upstate New York network in 2016.
From The Times Union:
“Charter operates the network under the Spectrum name and has 2.2 million customers in the state.
The AG's office eventually sued Charter in 2017 in state Supreme Court. Charter's attempts to get the case dismissed or moved to federal court were denied several times before the settlement that was announced Tuesday morning was struck”.
