A Schroon Spring: Rain, Melting Snow, Rain,  Snow Flurries and Flooding

Photo: Courtesy Tom Patrick. Water almost at the door of the Boathouse

Over the last couple of weeks, in between a rare day or three of glorious sun, the greater Schroon area received a lot of Adirondack liquid sunshine. That just added to tons of melting snow, which contributed to high – but not record worthy – lake and river levels. And why not throw in some snow flurries Saturday in the high peaks — just for good measure!

How much did all of that flooding play havoc in our area? See more after the jump:

Enough to flood the Medcalf Acres campground.

Almost enough to cover the road near the Horicon Boat launch.

Enough to cancel last Saturday’s Easter Egg Hunt.

Enough to delay any early boater’s dreams to get into the Adirondack Lodges harbor anytime soon.

Enough for the Schroon Lake Marina to delay Spring Boat deliveries as high waters flowed into their storage garages.

And enough to dislodge many items lake front homeowners assumed were secure.

And in Warren County, folks along the Schroon River experienced flooding.
