Schroon Lake’s Big July 4th 2020 Celebration: DYI/Staycation Edition

No Fireworks, No Parade, No Problem!

Greater Schroon looks like it’s gonna be buzzing with mask wearing holiday makers as almost all businesses have opened their doors and serving guests on their outside patios.

You can check the Chamber of Commerce list here to see the latest updates.

All Schroon businesses are requesting their guests follow established social distancing protocols, which means wearing a mask. Hand sanitizer is everywhere. We are hearing there is a shortage of available accommodations for cabins and rentals this weekend, the marina is doing a gangbuster business with their boat rental fleet and a very nice weather forecast will ensure plenty of activity at the beach and on the lake.

Vine and Barley, Schroon’s only casual wine and craft beer bar and bistro, open their doors on Friday. Proprietor Patti Mehm suggests making a reservation for groups and she can make arrangements to reserve sectioned off areas on their large balcony.

At the Paradox Brewery in North Hudson, guests on Thursday were greeted by the sight of their new pavilion and amazing hard and landscaping. The new space is open for pint sales. Brewery Founder Paul Mrocka and his investors are anxiously awaiting for the day when their spectacular inside tasting room will reopen.

To celebrate the new addition, Paul and Joanie and the gang have dropped a traditional German Hefeweizen, The Last Hefe On The Left, which head brewer Devon Hamilton describes as showcasing notes of banana and clove with a “nice fluffy mouth feel”.  The brewery also features wine slushies. Brewery hours are 12pm – 6pm.

At Trail Break at Schroon Lake Barry Pitkin is racing against the clock to have an extended  outdoor bluestone patio completed by July 4th,  weekend. Local craftsman Eric Welch of ADK Gardens is performing the work. On Main Street the Northwood Bread Co. is taking walk ins starting this Saturday. Those wanting baked goods on Friday need to pre-order. Got news to share or questions about this weekend?  Let us know in comments.
