Good news for many: The North Country now meets all seven requirements for starting the first phase of re-opening.

From the Schroon lake Chamber of Commerce:

“Thanks to county and town leadership, health departments, and others who have collaborated to get us to this threshold! Phase 1 includes: construction, manufacturing, wholesale businesses, and retail curbside pickup and delivery ONLY. Phase 2: storefront retail, professional services, real estate, insurance and finance offices, etc. Phase 3: hospitality industry, including dine-in service at restaurants and hotels. Phase 4: recreation, arts and entertainment, including movie theaters and museums. The State will continue refining these phases to be sure every business is covered. BEFORE RE-OPENING UNDER ANY PHASE, BUSINESSES MUST HAVE A HEALTH & SAFETY PLAN following state guidelines and safe practices. Please contact the Chamber for more information on training and resources available.

We have a few updates on area businesses. (Let us know in comments if you know of other changes).

Sticks and Stones, a proud sponsor of this website, has new hours. They are open for Stoneside pick/carryout  from 4 pm to 8 pm every day.

They also now have online ordering. Click here for details.

Our favorite hardware store is classified as an essential business and will now allow customers in their stores. Masks and social distancing are required, The company says they will allow only two customers per employee at a time in the store. The Schroon location’s hours:

Fri: 7:00am - 4:00pm Sat: 8:00am - 4:00pm Sun: Closed Mon: 7:00am - 4:00pm Tue: 7:00am - 4:00pm Wed: 7:00am - 4:00pm Thur: 7:00am - 4:00pm.

The Adirondack Buffalo Company is planning on opening its doors to customers on the Friday before Memorial Day -- with restrictions. More from the store:

“Only two customers in the store at a time, Face masks absolutely required (no exceptions). No children in the shop as it is difficult/impossible to keep them from touching things even when told not to. For our safety and our customers safety, we need to limit contact with products in the shop; so for now we are limiting contacts as much as possible. It may not be the greatest thing for business, but at this point in time survival is more important than $$$.  We are currently open for curbside service: please call to make arrangements for pick-up at (518) 532-9466”.
