Schroon and Beyond Mid-Pandemic: More Businesses Open

THE NEW PAVILION AT PARADOX BREWERY IN NORTH HUDSON

Little by little, Schroon Lake mid-pandemic, is starting to look a lot like Schroon Lake pre-pandemic, just with masks and social distancing. Life on Main Street and beyond is semi-buzzing. Sweet tooth fans rejoiced last weekend with the opening of The Pit Stop Sweet Shop. And Vine and Barley, the casual wine bar and bistro, will open next Friday.

Folks are anxiously awaiting news on the openings of True North Yoga, Flanagan’s Pub,  Bark Eaters Outfitters and the beloved Strand Theater.  But the wait will soon be over for Flanagan’s Pub and Grill fans. From Penny and Doug:

“Just wanted to give everyone an update on our status of opening. We are shooting to open middle to end of next month. Due to the COVID 19 guidelines, we feel that we have already been closed 3 months, what's one more, if it means the safety of our patrons and employees. Hopefully by that point, things will get better and we all will feel a lot more comfortable about Dining out. We want to Thank you all for your continued support and look forward to seeing you all soon. Love all of you.”

Paradox Brewery expanded their hours to 5 days a week: Wednesday through Sunday from 12pm – 6pm. There is plenty of room at their new North Hudson digs featuring a large outside bar for pints, growler fills and can sales. A big white tent  and their deck off the tasting room are open. The Inside tasting room is closed. A huge pavilion is in the final stages of completion and will hopefully be ready for the large July 4th crowds.

A few miles up the road Tammy Whitty-Brown is racing against the clock to complete stage one of a multi-part renovation to be ready to welcome her first guests at the Blue Ridge Motel. We’ll be profiling Tammy’s new venture next week.

Check back here for updates or share your news about your business in our comments section.  Meanwhile Bark Eaters Apparel merchandise is available online and True North Yoga are holding workshops, classes and events virtually. One of the reasons the Strand has a delayed opening is the lack of new movies.
