Own One of The Great Camps of the Adirondacks!

A standout even among the region’s Great Camps, the secluded Camp Uncas was built in 1895 by Brooklynite William West Durant, who is credited with perfecting the iconic Adirondack Great Camp style. The compound’s biggest claim to fame, however, is that it once belonged to financier J.P. Morgan, who purchased the 1,500 acre property from Durant in 1897; for the fifty years that followed, it served as a vacation home for Morgan and his family. Though the property has traded hands several times since, the appeal of its iconic architecture remains as compelling as its history. Designated as a national landmark by the U.S. Department of the Interior in 2010, this historically significant piece of the Adirondacks is for sale for $2.7 million, reduced from its original 2015 ask of $3.25M.

Although there is plenty to do on the property, there is also an abundance of hiking trails surrounding the home, and a sandy beach just a few minutes away. You can also go fishing for trout and northern pike in the 60-acre Mohegan Lake which wraps three sides of the land. The lake is also perfect for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, rowing or windsurfing. And as a bonus, the buyer of the Camp Uncas will also get an Emerson Adirondack guide boat original to the compound, two modern canoes and a rowboat.

Own Your Own Bakery in the Adirondacks

For many folks, a visit to Lil Nony's Bakery in Minerva, is more than a dining experience, it’s a trip down memory lane. Now, you can own a piece of history. This successful, fun family business -– open seasonally –- is for sale.

Known by holiday makers and locals alike, this specialty bakery features homemade donuts, sticky buns, pies, cheesecakes, sandwiches, wraps, soups and more. The list price is $330,000.

The price includes land, building, all kitchen equipment and the secret recipes of this profitable business. Schroon’s Brooke Clark (518-222-6553) has the listing. Read what two recent customers had to  say about their dining experience this past summer:

“Lil’ Nony's warm smile embraces you comfortably like your grandma did. As you settle into the meal, the waitress eases your nerves with her witty banter, her laugh assuring you that everything's going to be just fine even when times are tough. The Glazed Eggnut sends you into an ocean of pleasure, a shower of dopamine bathing you in honor and glory with each bite. The server brings over a "piggy bun" and shoots a welcoming wink your way as a maple makeover turns your world into a sweet (and savory, let's not forget the bacon!) tycoon of wholesome family fun. A handshake and hug on the way out seal the deal as a single silent tear slides off your chin; words just can't express how grateful you are, but Nony understands nonetheless. Lil Nony's is the Mecca of your hungry pilgrimage and you are Muhammad. Eat at this restaurant”.

And from a pancake lover:

"Two words: blackberry pancakes! what a treat it was for a friend and I to have a delicious and inexpensive breakfast after doing a long and arduous hike the day before. and although it was busy with an initial 25-minute wait, the waitress literally sat us in a couple minutes. I helped myself to some coffee, and all was good in the world. they sell these little cinnamon donut balls called misfits placed perfectly next to the coffee, and so we decided why the heck not.

Our food came out in about 15/20 minutes, and everything was delicious. I had never had blackberry pancakes, and I was more than happy to pay a bit extra for them. they were the perfect consistency, not to thin or thick, with hot gooey berries inside, and some whipped cream of course. the home fries were cooked well as they should be, and I just had sunny side up eggs. the hash I'm pretty sure came out of a can, but it complemented the eggs n potatoes nicely. all in all, a perfect country breakfast spot. I will definitely be back. oh, and our waitress was super sweet and checked back to see how we were doing. that deserves an A on my book!”

Take the Worry Out Of Owning a Camp or Home

If you are a long time camp or home owner, or are about to become one, there are multiple responsibilities that come with this honor – thanks to the extremes of our four seasons. From winterization, to opening it up for the summer, to everything in between, there are literally dozens of details to attend to.

But there is a family owned business based in the hamlet of Adirondack, Adirondack Home Watch, that cane takes the worry out of home ownership, for both year round and seasonal folks.

The business is run by Kathy Hill, a native Adirondacker who has resided in Warren County her entire life.

Together with her husband Mike, thid dynamic duo can take care of just about any detail to do with your home or camp, from security, property and concierge services. Some recent testimonials:

“We recently bought a home on Schroon Lake which we rent out.  The people at Adirondack Home Watch not only take care of the property when we aren’t there, they help our renters with any concerns there might be around the house and property.  Although tenants check themselves in, it is a real comfort to know that we have someone there locally to help out if a problem comes up.  At one point last winter, in checking our fuel supply, they realized that we were almost out of oil.  They were able to follow through and make sure we could get a delivery, avoiding the possibility of a real mess.  They can also check on the property after a tenant departs but before our cleaner can get there.  I don’t know how we could rent our home in the Adirondacks without them".

And

“We have owned a weekend / vacation home on Schroon Lake for 25 years.  The people at Adirondack Home Watch have been an incredible resource.  When we need help with something and can’t be up there, they take care of it.  On one visit they found the ignitors for our stove running continuously.  They disconnected the appliance and arranged repairs.  They have been able to bring power and prevent a freeze up during winter storms.  They have identified that we were low on fuel and arranged delivery.  The piece of mind of being able to call a local resource, who we can trust, to take care of things when we aren’t there is priceless.”
