Everything’s Bigger in the ‘Dacks

Big lakes, big mountains and big chairs.  Reader Shawn Baker drew our attention to this masterpiece.

From Shawn:  “Hi Schroon Laker! Wondering if this is perhaps the Largest Adirondack Chair in the Adirondacks? It's right here in Schroon Lake at the Word of Life Inn and Family Lodge and it was built by Doug Bensen and Carl Rambow.”

Congrats to Doug and Carl and we hope all of the folks attending the WOL Inn and Family Lodge are enjoy it.

Seeing this reminded us of another big chair, a masterpiece by Barry Gregson, which once resided on Route 9 where Sticks and Stones now calls home, which is now up on Charley Hill Road at Adirondack Rustics!

Schroon’s Shrinking Beach

This picture, taken Sunday, shows a rather small version of our normally large, white sandy beach. Just as our lake level was going down on Saturday, we got pummeled on Sunday.

The levels are so high that a large portion of the gangway on the town dock was underwater Sunday.

For those wondering  what’s happening at the Starbuckville Dam, we have been told that the gates are OPEN  and being monitored by dam engineers.  What we need is the rain to stop keep topping off the lake!
