Rocking Around The ‘Dacks

We have long claimed the title that our area is the music and entertainment capital of the North Country! And yet there’s another addition to the music scene – regular concerts this summer --  just down the road a bit in Chestertown.

This Wednesday, (July 22) Jim Gaudet & The Railroad Boys, are playing at the Carol Theatre at 7pm. Tickets are just $10!  The band features great guitar, mandolin and banjo music.

Get your tix in advance at Main Street Ice Cream Parlor, Panther Mountain Inn, Rustic Charm (next to theater) or the Chestertown Farmers Market on Wednesday (10 AM to 2 PM).  For more info call 518-494–5318.

What’s Happening in Greater Schroon?

As Schroonlaker.com continues to grow in popularity, we are increasing our coverage in our sister towns. To our south, in North Warren County -- which happens to host half of Schroon Lake -- we are getting a lot of buzz. And the driving force in those parts is the Tri-Lakes Business Alliance. Cindy Mead keeps us updated.

Schroon Lake Homes And Gardens: The 2015 Tour

A home on this year's tour

A home on this year's tour

They are hidden on quiet back roads, some in plain sight and others are glimpsed by boat from the water:  these are some of the special gems that make up some great homes, camps and gardens of greater Schroon.

And just once a year, you can get to glimpse at what folks have done to make their homes and gardens the slices of paradise they are. It’s the annual Friends of Schroon Lake Library House and Garden Tour.

And it’s this Saturday. Read more about the tour, and a special presentation by Charlie Nardozzi – gardening expert extraordinaire. Read more about the tour and talk in our Summer Fun in the ‘Dacks 2015 section.

Adirondack Shindig Day

We are always encouraged when we hear how folks work so hard to preserve Adirondack traditions. And when those efforts contribute to help preserving local history – that’s a  daily double!!!

One event, now in its 2nd year, is the  Annual Adirondack Shindig in the hamlet of  Adirondack, in the Town of Horicon. Besides the fun aspect of music, laughter and a grand time, much needed funds were raised to help preserve an historic landmark.
