Freeze Warning: Boat Engines, Plants and Pipes

AS of 11.30am Saturday

AS of 11.30am Saturday

It’s gonna be a bone-chillier for the next couple of nights.  Tonight’s low in Schroon is going to be around 27 degrees and Sunday night the mercury hits 21.

There’s a snow shower or two in the forecast, but most of the action will be in the higher peaks to the north. It’s enough for the National Weather Service to issue a Hazardous Outlook Warning

Locally, Craig Kennedy and his crew at the Schroon Lake Marina are working as fast as they can to winterize as many boat and jet ski engines as they can, before the freeze hits tonight.

On the home-front, make sure your crawl space heater is set to the right temperature and the water supply to outside garden hoses is turn off and drained.

It’s services like Adirondack Homewatch that can make a huge difference in the quality of your life -- by being the eyes and ears that watch your property when you are out of town.

Owners Mike and Kathy Hill offer a full line of services for your property. And being based in the hamlet of Adirondack, they are never a few minutes away from your home or camp. The list of services is extensive.

Witherbee’s Giving Back: Helping Those Who Serve At Home And Abroad

We’ve often said those who live in greater Schroon are not afraid to step up and help others. It’s part of fabric of what makes up this community.

Over the last 15 years The Christian Family, owners of Witherbee’s Carriage House, have donated more than $50,000 to worthy causes.

Most recently they have been champions of raisingboth money and awareness for The Wounded Warrior Fund and The Harry Chapin Project.

Now they have a program for local community service groups and charities – known as “Dine To Donate.”

Here’s how the program works, according to Patty Christian: “Choose any Friday - Sunday for your organization.  Promote your Dine to Donate Event to the community and members of your organization and 10% of every entrée sold during your event will be donated to your organization!

Carriage House will provide promotional material (posters and flyers) for you to pass out and post in your community.  It’s a great way to have your community and organization get involved, have a great meal, and Donate To Your Cause!  Just give us a call and we will put you on the calendar!”

There’s a long list of organizations Witherbee’s has helped. Each year they are the official sponsor of the Town of Schroon Lions Club annual Prime Rib Dinner, and the official after race party of  The Adirondack Marathon.
