SCHROON'S SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY PART 2

There’s a lot happening in Schroon this weekend, among them some huge sales for Black Friday. Schroon’s Towne Store and Pinecone Mercantile lead the way of Main Street with some incredible bargains, which you can read about here.

Sticks and Stones is kicking off the weekend with a special acoustic performance by Steve Smith and Friends at 7 pm tonight (Friday). Sunday at 6pm its Ritchie Ortiz.

From the kitchen there’s Wood Fired Peppercorn Encrusted Prime Rib-- Friday and Saturday only, or while supplies last!

Our friends at the Adirondack Museum tell us hey are having a Small Business Saturday event from 10 am – 4 pm in the Visitor Center and Museum Store.  More information about the event, click here.

If you are in the market for a one of a kind holiday gift, check out the fine arts and more at Anthony Ruiz’s Giant Mountain Studio, opposite the Community Church on Leland Ave. They are open Friday and Saturday.

John and Joan Gokey tell us they will be extending their regular  Saturday and Sunday 9 am- 5pm hours of their Gokey’s Outlet Store, through to December 20.

Looking for a place to stay –  or to stash extra visiting guests? There are several options. Right on the beach is The Schroon Lake Place, run by the Jones Family. A great place to be, right in the middle of the action, just steps from downtown. Its access makes it perfect for ice fisherman and sledders. Check their website for availability.

The Schroon Lake B&B, run by Sharon and Mark Piper, is an elegant retreat for a quick weekend getaway. And if you need space for a family group, in a charming B&B with access to a full kitchen, check out the Paradox House.

And close to town there’s the Starry Night Cabins -- which owner Sharon Stein tells us still has rooms for this weekend. They are open all winter and taking reservations for Christmas.

Visit the Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce on Main Street for a full list of places to stay.

A Schroon Thanksgiving

If you are here in greater Schroon right about now, you are blessed. If you are heading here, you also fall under that umbrella. If you are on the fence about coming here,  have you covered. We’ve got your handy, dandy guide for all things for a “Schroon Thanksgiving” and beyond weekend.

On T-Day, in downtown, Schroon’s old faithful, The Timberwolf, will be open from  11 am  to 11 pm. What’s special here is there free Turkey Buffet, starting at 3 pm. The 'Wolf's Helen tells us the buffet attracts single locals, travelers passing through and other T-Day Orphans.

At Sticks and Stones, a proud sponsor of SchroonLaker.com, Steve and Gary will be turning out an amazing traditional Thanksgiving Day Menu, all for the affordable price of $24.99.

Starting at 3pm, get ready for the area’s best soup or salad to start, Herb Roasted Stuffed Turkey, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Cranberry Sauce, Green Beans and a choice of Apple Crisp or Old Fashioned Fruit Forrest Pie. Reservations, though not required, will be accepted.

Open on T-Day will be the Dollar General (7 am - 8 pm), the Tops Market (7 am- 5:30 pm) and Stewarts (5 am- 11 pm).

All other eateries and business (as far as we know) will be enjoying the holiday off. If you know otherwise, leave us a message in our comment section.
