Laura and Greg Lawless sent a couple of postcards that came their way recently.

From Laura:

I'm attaching two postcards that came into my possession from my dad’s friend who collects Adirondack post cards. I have no idea if they are actually that rare, however the Bird’s Eye view one was most interesting as it is post marked August 16, 1912 and the visitor’s remarks are readable on the back”.

If it's a Wednesday in Schroon, then it's another awesome day to enjoy your summer vacation, and all our fine hamlet has to offer.

There's a boat load of activities. In no particular order we recommend the huge Friends of Schroon Lake Library Books Sale, the amazing  wake boarding show sponsored by the Word of Life, tonight's square dance, Seagle's "Roscoe", kids activities at the library and Patty and Dave performing at Sticks and Stones. Adirondack Treasures Yard Sale

Get ready for the 17th Annual Adirondack Yard Sale on Saturday August 13 from 9am – 3pm  (rain date Sunday 8/14) in the hamlet of Adirondack!

Among those selling bargains will be the East Shore Schroon Lake Association (ESSLA) will have a table selling donated items.

From ESSLA:

“If you're looking to clean out your garage or storage shed, now is a good time to give new life to unwanted items. Gently used goods in  "saleable" condition, especially baby toys, beach toys, kitchen items go over well.  No clothing, electronics please. ESSLA's table will be set up the night before, so you can drop off your items the evening before or early Saturday morning. We look forward to seeing you there!"

Schroon Welcomes World Champion Wake Boarders

Once again, courtesy of the Word of Life, X Games Gold medalist Emily Copeland Durham returns to Schroon.

And this time you can watch her performance as she and fellow professional boarder Keith Lyman take to the water.

The two are here for a special training camp at the Word of Life. On Wednesday, the public is invited to come to the Word of Life Island for an up close and personal view.

Everyone in the Schroon Lake Region is invited to join the fun and watch their demonstration, which will be held out on the water in front of WORD OF LIFE ISLAND BOATHOUSE on Wednesday, August 3rd @ 7:30pm.

If you would like to watch the demonstrations from the shores of the Island, arrive at the Mainland Dock (across from Hoffman Mountain  Road) by 7:00pm, sign in as a guest at the boat stop, and take the 7:00pm boat to the Island to watch the demo from the Boathouse Front. If you would like to watch from your personal boat, you are welcome to drive your boat to the demo! Word of Life asks that you arrive to the "designated viewing area" no later than 7:15. There will be a no wake area designated that night in front of the Island. Please see the attached poster for more information.
