Happy St. Patrick's Weekend Schroon Lakers

A top o' the mornin' to everyone, on this fabulous Friday, the kick off to a weekend of Irish Fun in Schroon.

North Woods Bread Company has a batch of Edward's famous "Traditional" Irish soda bread. That means no fruit in this dense and flavorful brown bread, made from whole wheat, buttermilk, and baking soda!
At Flanagan's Bar and Grill, Schroon's official Irish Pub, Penny and Doug are rolling out the green carpet --  to celebrate 20 Years of this unofficial holiday -- with specials all weekend long! Have a great day, be safe and stay warm!

Yowser!  Local snow plowers could not do their jobs, parts of the Northway shut down and Gore Mountain got a lifeline to extend their ski season!

And for many in our area there were power outages, harrowing drives and SNOW DAYS: NO SCHOOL.

Don Miller, who does an excellent job keeping local driveways clear, couldn’t even get out to do his job at the height of the storm.

“I went out and tried to plow and did not get very far. This storm is massive and I just cannot see at all. Just not safe at all. This is a first time this type of storm has created this condition for me since 2007. The total amount of snow on the ground now cannot be truly measured due to the winds up to 45 mph and drifted snow”.

This weekend should see an influx of visitors with excellent ice fishing, sledding and skiing conditions.

What are your plans?

There are many folks-- especially winter sports lovers -- who feel slightly cheated by this winter. But they may get one last dump of snow to take them through spring, IF a big winter storm prediction comes through.

While a potential Tuesday Nor’easter will focus most of it’s wrath south of our area, there’s still a chance we could get several inches. NOAA has issued a winter storm watch, which you can read here. Got a prediction? Share it with us in comments.
