RIP Mary Olive Gunn: April 24, 1930 — October 21, 2017
/Schroon Laker Mary Olive Gunn, 87 passed away Saturday, October. 21, 2017 at the Adirondack Tri-County Health Care Center after an extended illness. A funeral services will be held at 11am, on Monday November 6, at the Schroon Lake Community Church.

Mary was born April 24, 1930 in Poughkeepsie, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Ruth Taylor VanVoorhis.
Mary married Allan Gunn on Oct. 21, 1961. They had two children, a son Kenneth, born Aug. 1, 1962, and a daughter, Elizabeth, born Oct. 20, 1964. Allan passed away Feb. 1, 2010. They lived in Beacon for 35 years and, upon their retirement, moved to Schroon Lake in June of 1982.
Mary was a teller at Beacon Savings Bank in Beacon and worked in the business office at the Fishkill Health Related Center in Fishkill.
Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed her family. She was a member of the Schroon Lake Community Church. She enjoyed arts and crafts and volunteering at various venues around the Schroon Lake area.
Mary is survived by her son, Kenneth, of Schroon Lake; her daughter, Elizabeth (Sivaswamy) Ramachandran, of Brooklyn; and her two grandsons, Anjay Gunner and Vinoj Allan Ramachandran.
A funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday Nov. 6 at the Schroon Lake Community Church. Internment will follow at 2 p.m. at the Gerald H. B. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
The family suggests memorials take the form of donations to the Schroon Lake Emergency Squad, Schroon Lake, NY 12870.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, 1019 US Rt.9, Schroon Lake.

Getting Spookified In Schroon
/If you haven’t noticed, Halloween is one event that Schroon Lakers take seriously. There’s an immersive, interactive experience on the Word Of Life Island, tonight and Saturday night and two pubs are hosting costume parties with drink specials.
And Adirondack’s finest home furnishing store, Pincecone Mercantile, has some glorious Halloween and Fall themed accessories.
