Leslie Lydon Wemett

Local businesses are rallying to help out an original Schroon Laker, Leslie Lydon Wemett, who was recently diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.

“Miss Leslie”, as she is known, is a longtime Glens Falls National Bank teller and the  wife of Tony Lydon, a member of the Glens Falls Police Benevolent Association. The couple have two daughters, 16 and 19. Deb DeCesare, from DeCesare’s Pizza, has offered to collect donations.

“If anyone is interested in donating anything, let me know and we will be starting a bucket here at the pizza place,” Deb wrote on her Facebook Wall.

And over at the Paradox General Store and Cafe, Jeannie Taylor-Scalise is raffling off an Acadia II 14.0 Kayak with two paddles. Tickets are $20 and all proceeds go to Leslie and her family.

There’s also a roast beef dinner planned by friends and family  -- with the help of the Glens Falls PBA  -- on Sunday, September 18 at the West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Department. Click here for information.

Our thoughts and prayers are with  Leslie and her family.
