Come On Irene

At the very least Irene promises us a wet weekend – at its worst – we can expect flash flooding, downed power lines and uprooted trees. What will really happen is best summed up by the National Weather Service: “Inherent Uncertainty”.  Here is the latest from NOAA

FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.
DETERIORATING WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED BY SATURDAY NIGHT
INTO SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT AS TROPICAL CYCLONE IRENE MAKES ITS
WAY NORTHWARD INTO THE REGION. INHERENT UNCERTAINTY IN FORECAST
TRACKS OF THESE SYSTEMS MAKES IT PROBLEMATIC TO DETERMINE SPECIFIC
IMPACTS FOR OUR REGION...BUT THE THREAT OF HEAVY...POTENTIALLY
FLOODING RAINFALL AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS ARE CERTAINLY POSSIBLE
DURING THIS PERIOD. THEREFORE...IT IS PRUDENT THAT RESIDENTS
ACROSS VERMONT AND NORTHERN NEW YORK MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS
ON THIS EVOLVING WEATHER EVENT.
