Santa’s Awesome Night In Schroon

The spirit of Christmas is alive and well in Schroon. When Santa came to town on Saturday he managed to hear the wish lists of dozens of kids at  Larry McNamara’s Strand Theater. Up and down Main Street everyone got to enjoy music, cookie decorating, hot chocolate and even a petting zoo!

“The night was a huge success,” one of the organizers Patti Mehm told Schroon Laker today.

The weather wasn’t the best, but folks still came out.”

Dozens of people enjoyed the music of the Adirondack Gospel Trio at the Towne Store and the music of the Boathouse players --  made up of local musicians – who played at Joanie’s Baked Goodies.

And today, Rosemarie Ritsen, office manager of the Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce, played Santa to the 47 lucky folks who managed to win one of the Christmas Basket Raffles.

“It was one of our best years ever,” Rosemarie said. “We raised over a $1,000.”

The money will be used to help local children and their families, through the Christmas Express program and the Schroon Lake Food Pantry.
