Snow Won't Stop The Show

It's all systems GO as Schroon welcomes in the Year 2013 -- despite the massive amounts of snow around town -- and in the town park, where a lot of the action is happening tonight.

"There is an area flattened by he town and the bon fire is ready to go," one of the organizers Tony Kostecki, told Schroon Laker today.

"Yes, there is a lot of snow so are are expecting folks to dress appropriately. Wear your snow boots or stay in the street".

Advance ticket sales are available today at the Schroon Lake Chamber Office or Mr P's Mountain Smokehouse, where you can save a few bucks if you buy them today. Prices slightly higher at the Schroon Lake Central School tonight.

To recap what's happening tonight:

Fireworks, a huge bon fire, a sock hop, Shakespeare and arts and crafts are the headliners at this year’s Schroon Lake New Year’s Eve Festivities.

The action takes place at two locations -- the Schroon Lake Central School and the Town Park, near the bandstand.

And the signature luminary walk which light up the path to the massive bon fire and viewing area for the fireworks, will be back again.

Every year organizers of the event, proudly sponsored by the Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce, want to enhance the exprience and this year they are proud to add performances by Schroon Lake’s own ADK Shakes Company.

And if you have never seen ADK Shakes in action, you are missing out. Everybody gets to experience the stories that are bought to life by company founders, the incredibly talented Patrick Siler and Tara Bradway.

New Year’s Eve kicks off at the SLCS with the sock hop in the gymnasium and ADK Shakes in the Auditorium.

ADK shakes perform two shows, at 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm. The sock hop goes from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm in the Gymnasium.

At around 8.45 pm there’s the walk from the school to the Town Park for the bon fire and fireworks. Expect the fire to go up in flames at around 9 pm, followed by the scheduled blast off of fireworks at ro

The fireworks, luminary walk and bon fire are free. This event is entirely underwritten by the Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce. To help the Chamber cover costs a nominal fee is being charged for the sock hop and ADK Shakes Production.
