Top Shelf: Our Library

One of the jewels of our fine town, besides the magnificent lake, has to be our library. Under the steady leadership of its awesome director, Jane Bouchard -- and financial support from the Friends of Schroon Lake Library -- our little piece of literary heaven packs an enormous punch for its tiny size.

In the above video, which was made with a grant from the CEF Library System, you’ll hear from year ‘round residents and a summer visitor, about why the library is so popular.

From serving several hundred year rounders – to more than 4,000 "summer people", the library has something for everyone.

“The free wi-f i is a big draw for summer visitors,” Jane told us recently. “And we are always looking at ways to keep our year round population engaged.”

Among popular programs at the library are kids activities, movies for adults and younger viewers and book discussions.

“One of the most popular programs we have is our computer training class,” Jane said.

The next class is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday March 13 – from 10 to 12pm. The class teaches users how to improve their overall skills, as well as lessons on using Excel spreadsheets, Micosoft Word and the Internet. Contact the Library for details.
