It was known as The Adirondack Bed Race and it was a fixture for many years in Schroon Lake on the Saturday of Memorial Day. Back in the day a bed with four runners and a rider roared down Leland Ave over the 50 meter course.

An award was given for the best decorated bed-mobile. This Memorial Day the scene will be quite different with the inaugural Schroon Lake Opening Weekend, with festivities beginning Thursday night and continuing through Sunday.
